MIA no more!!!!

I bet some of you thought perhaps I had been abducted by aliens....or perhaps my muse stuffed me in the closet and wouldn't let me out....or perhaps that I had won the lottery and moved to a tropical island.....or that "GASP" the dust bunnies under the bed grabbed me and pulled me into a dark hole. Nothing so sinister or exciting happened to me....we just moved!!!  ^_^

Here is my new work area and I LOVE it!! Look at all the windows and they go all around the room on the other side too. Natural light and so much inspiration!! I have two big closets that are housing my supplies and that's so nice. It leaves me more space out in the room plus it hides if it gets into a bit of a mess. You know how we can be sometimes. Don't deny it...I have seen some of YOUR work areas....LOL!!! My sewing machine is the little table sitting over to the right hand side of the photo...with the baskets sitting next to it. I normally have to put it in another room so it's going to be "AWESOME" to just push my chair over to it. It's sitting in front of one set of the closets with all my material....so I can just pick out my material and start sewing. Which reminds me that I have a little monkey to be working on now that we are settled.

Such a stressful time we have been having with moving and the hubbikins trying to pass a 5mm kidney stone...OUCHIE!! I am glad to be getting back into a normal routine....if there is such a thing. Is there?

I have missed you all so much and am planning to come and visit with you and see just what I have been missing in your world.

Until next time...HUGS,
Regi

Blooms have been whispering

Mother Nature really is throwing some curve balls at us. Some very strange weather for sure. I guess most know that I live in Alabama and am very proud to say that I am one of the true Southern GRITS. (girl raised in the South) Our state has been hit really hard with the weather in the past year. Those horrible nasty monsters (tornadoes) that hit Tuscaloosa and her close by communities in April and now the one that hit Birmingham and her surrounding areas the beginning of this week. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected.

One thing that Mother Nature has done here that is far from any monsters she can throw at us are the beautiful flowers we have blooming. Some are breathtaking and right outside my studio windows. I have those large Southern Camilla trees and big huge Azalea bushes and they are full of shining little faces. (that's blooms people...blooms ^_^) While sitting here gazing out the windows this past weekend my muse and those shining little faces began to whisper to me.

Still in the WIP (work in progress) stages but she is getting closer to completely revealing herself to me. I hope to get her painted and dressed today. I attached her wings last night. Do you remember the beaded butterfly wings I was working on several months ago? Here...let me joggle that memory some.......

Ahhhhh...now you remember, ri iight? I did finish them and they are finally going to be part of a fae.  Not the one I had originally planned for them but we all know that our muse likes to totally confuse us at times. At least my Li'l mischievous one does. If yours doesn't....DO NOT TELL ME!!! I would like to think that it happens to all of us quirky artist...it's a sanity issue. ^_^

Until next time...........HUGS, Regi

SNOW!!!!

Ohhhhhh....the weather outside is frightening
and I think it's really trying
to freeze off my wittle nose
Let is Snow..let it snow...let it snow!!!

OMGOSH....ok so it's not really snowing here but if we had rain clouds in the sky that suddenly decided to open up then it would have been snowing..oh yes......it would!!! It was freakin freezing this morning when the Chazman and I went outside for him to met the bus. Literally, it was 32 and right now we are only up to 37.   I know my friends that are sitting here reading this that live up North are laughing until tears are flowing...HEY...watch out..they might freeze..hehe.  However, someone, apparently forgot to tell old Jack Frost that he was on the coast and should be wearing shorts, sandals and drinking one of those little Froo-Froo drinks with an umbrella in it. Geez Louise!!!

I did look out my side window this morning and with looking through the blinds it did look like we had snow on the ground. It was one of my beautiful white camellia trees. The wind had apparently blown all the blooms around and well....look for yourself.
After feeling the chill in the air this morning....I'm happy that this is the only "snow" we had here. Now if we can just get back our nice tropical, warmth.

I'm going to be working in the studio today. Starting on the teacher's Santa. I will probably be making two as I can't decide which size I want to give her. You that know me...know that sometimes when I sculpt it decides right in the middle that it wants to go in a completely different direction. I so can not have a Santa that starts out as a 3" to end up wanting a 10" body...that so would not work!!!! Well....maybe it could if I wanted to do a totally, completely WHIMSICAL Santa. Nahhhhhh...not for the teacher but maybe for another time. I will have to keep that idea in the back of my head. Hummmmm, I just had thoughts of Tim Burton..wonder why?

I have an assistant today and she has already found her a WARM place to be. So I guess I need to get started.
Until Next time......stay WARM and Hugs, Regi

Helping Hands Needed....

It's amazing how I can just sit and stare out my windows.....time just floats on by at an amazingly faster pace than I realize. So much nature to see....to laugh at....to watch with amazement and to want to just jump on and catch. Well....not me...I don't feel that way but Ms. Peaches sure does. LOL  She has found the perfect place to sit and watch out the windows herself and I'm sure her feelings aren't quite the same as the ones I have about all the amazing creatures playing........just out of reach. Thank goodness!!!!

Ms. Peaches and I love to just sit and watch all our wonderful outdoor friends. The squirrels are just as curious....the will come on the porch and sit and stare at US. One even comes up the steps to the back door. I do believe it would come in if I opened the door. We have tons of the big, beautiful Southern Oak trees in the yard which means we have tons of the acorns that fall...the reason our yard is the perfect place. The birds and squirrels share the bird bath but not at the same time of course...no squirrel in it's right mind would ever be caught socializing with a bird!!! We have just about every kind of bird that calls Alabama home here too. This week we have been getting a daily visit from a small Herring. He is getting braver with each visit as he too loves to come and sit under the awning on the porch....that is until one of the squirrels wants to come and visit.

I wish I could have gotten the little squirrel in the photo too....I would have sworn she was shaking her fist at the Herring.

Life is good here but it's hard at the same time. That's the meaning of my title. I have a favor to ask of my friends that I have made here....the ones that have been such amazing supports without even knowing it. Not asking for handouts but I am asking if you would please send friends to my Etsy shoppe. We are having a very difficult time here. I so need to sell some things so that I can contribute......just be able to stock my kitchen would be great. (This hard time is a great way to diet...that's for sure..LOL) To say thank you to those that can...will and do send buying customers to my shop, I will be sending you a thank you gift..so keep in touch.

Until next time............HUGS!!!!

Southern Ooaks New Home

I thought today I would share some photos of my whimsical world's new home. So much light coming in...so much inspiration to be had........that is if I can stop staring out the windows long enough to hear my muse's whisperings. ^_^

We are living in an old cottage style home. One with so much charm and character. If only the walls could talk, eh? My work place is divided up into different little areas. My main working bench and computer are in the area with three big picture windows looking out at some wonderful old oak trees....how fitting...I live surrounded by true Southern Oaks. There are large Camella bushes which have actually turned into trees, flowing English ivy leaping over the brick wall on our covered carport and several hydrangeas and lilies growing in between the old oaks.
My sewing area is on the other side of this divided room. It also holds an antique iron twin bed for when we have company. Plus my pie safe that holds tons of material and supplies. So can't believe I didn't think of using it before....amazing how things you have had for years take on a new role when you move.

There is a great cabinet and shelving dividing the room into such wonderful areas. I used the shelving as a perfect place to set my ooaks. They are looking out the windows at all the magnificent old oaks. The cabinets beneath hold supplies and some of my weebies.

I hope that you have enjoyed your tour of our new place. Now...it's time to go fill up the birdbath again and get to sculpting.

Until next time.....

Hugs,
Regi
