Sculpting, Designing and Condo/Beach house cleaning

It's going to be a VERY interesting spring I must say. I was happily working on some jewelry pieces when my friend that I'm working for cleaning condos and beach houses gave me a "frantic" call. I do mean "FRANTIC" too. She asked if I was busy and before I could even answer (yes..she was that frantic) she asked if I could go and help Ray (that's her husband and partner in the cleaning company) with a project at one of the condo units. A project...I LOVE projects so of course I said yes. Now the project was trying to weed through all the mess that a group of spring breakers left behind in the unit. OH MY GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY what a mess!! I started working after the spring break last year so I haven't a clue as to how WILD some of these folks can be. Now I know that they come down to have a good time...I mean I know it's the beach....but they really should stop and "think" before they do some of the things they do. I won't go into details but I will say that we had to throw out all of the towels. (just use your imagination)  EWWWW!! Rest assured that they WON'T be renting any future condos from this particular owner again either.

I was only gone for about an hour and a half. I was just there to help clean up the not normal mess and then the ones assigned to clean it did their thing. I did quietly ask Ray who was in the houses I was cleaning this weekend and he looked at me and smiled and said...SPRING BREAKERS!!! Again....OH MY GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY....I'm going to really earn my money this weekend.

Like I said in the beginning...I was working on some of my jewelry pieces. My mermaid muse was in my studio today and was whispering some really good ideas. I made a pretty pair of earrings...they hang about 2 inches from the silver fish hook. Dyed (green) pearls, a piece of polished jade, glass beads and tiny pieces of green sea glass will surely bring your mermaid muse out to play.

I finished the macrame bracelet I was working on when I got home from working on the "project"...hehe. I used natural hemp and dark green hemp to make the bracelet and then added one of my mermaid head clay charms along with one of my clay turtle charms attached to a natural shell with a pearl. Glass beads are woven into the bracelet as well as strung on the side dangles. I finished it with one of my twisted square knot closures. It is adjustable to fit a small wrist or a larger wrist.

Now tomorrow I'm sure I won't be working in my studio as I am cleaning a beach house....so don't be surprised when you hear from where ever you are "OH MY GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY". It will only be me...^_^

Until next time............Hugs,
Regi

Ooohhh.....for those that have been reading my post for awhile and know about Gabie and Pumpkin, our kittens, I thought you might like to see some new photos of them. Here's two....their two favorite places to be during the day...in my lap....and sitting on the arm of my chair...patiently waiting for me to turn my head so they can pounce see what I'm working on.

Had to put my arm across or Gabie was going to get a real close up..hehe
OMGOSH....I just noticed that Gabie is sticking her tongue out..hehe

Mermaid Inspiration

SHOCK....another sunny day here today!!  It's so nice to see that brilliant orange orb in the sky smiling down on us. Ahhhhhh.....taking a moment to shut my eyes and let the warmth of the sun coming through the window fill my soul. OK...enough of that...let's talk MERMAIDS!!

I finished the two bracelets that I made the clay mermaid head charms for. They turned out MARVELOUS darlins....simply marvelous!!

This one has a center rope of olive green and the tie pieces are yarn....green with flecks of blue. I love using yarn in my macrame pieces...adds so much charm and makes them a bit unique and whimsical. This one has glass beads going around the twists and the side dangle pieces have attached natural shells, dyed pearls, glass beads, clay mermaid head and a sterling silver star fish charm.

This little beauty has a center rope of natural hemp and I used the mohair yarn for the tie pieces. Glass beads run around the twist on the bracelet and there is a small dangle off centered of a polished aquamarine stone with three glass beads. The side dangles have a clay mermaid head charm, a tiny glass vial filled with sand from our beach and tiny sea glass pieces inside as well. Dyed pearls and a sterling silver star fish charm finish this piece.

I'm enjoying making these so much. I think I'm going to make a few kiddos bracelets as well. Any suggestions perhaps? Just leave me some love (that's comments people..hehe) and share some ideas with me.

Until next time..........Hugs,
Regi

Beautiful Sunday!!

What a glorious day we are having here in our little coastal town. The past few weeks have been OH SO STICKY and HOT, HOT, HOT but today it feels like Fall is in the air. I mean...really...it does. It's 12:25 in the afternoon and it's only 79 degrees and it actually feels like 79.  I was able to open up the back door and let the cool fresh breeze in this morning....so nice. That is until Ms Peaches started bellowing and I do mean BELLOWING to go outside. She actually sounds like she is yelling "OUT"....so I quickly closed the door!!!

This wonderful weather is making the Hubbikins surf.....surf the TV channels that is..HA!! The Chazman is being an Overlord and making his minions dance all around. Don't panic...my sweetie petie isn't becoming some wacky monster..he is playing a game. At least I think he is playing the game. He is in there giggling about the minions singing and dancing....some mean Overlord huh? Meanwhile, I am sitting in the back doing a load of laundry (fun fun) and making some clay molds (really FUN FUN..for reals) for some charms I want to make.

This is just a few of them already baked. I have a few more baking as we chat along with some of the charms I already pressed into these molds. I want to use them with some of my mermaid/Bohemian/Gypsy pieces I have in mind. A few more keepsake necklaces and some bracelets. I hope they work the way I'm seeing them in my head.

Here's some of the beads I have picked out to use. Not all of them together..well..perhaps not but I really love all of these. I didn't take the main ones out of the bags so that they would be a mystery until I get the pieces complete.

So...what have you been doing this glorious day? I'm so happy that you stopped by to visit with me...I love when you do.

Until next time........Hugs,
Regi

Time is FLYING!!

OMGOSH...I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted. Where in the heck is the time going to? Seems like I was just sitting here doing the mermaid tail post. I need it to slow down a bit...ppplease!!!! ^_^

I guess it's going by fast because it's summertime and thank the good LORD that it is. I love this time of year. The Chazman is home with me....we get to go to the beach more and our little town has so many things happening. But really...I want to enjoy all this and not feel as though I'm traveling through time at a rapid rate of speed. LOL

With it being summer that means that we have more tourist here and that's a good thang!!! It also however means that we are hopping on the weekends to get the cleaning done between one group checking out and another checking in. We have started taking our bath suits with us so that when we finish cleaning we can head on down to the beach. I mean..we are already right there at it...so we should go..ri iight??

Since I posted my mermaid tail post last week I have gotten another order...YEA...WOOT WOOT!! I love making my ooaks and jewelry but I really love making them AND selling them. The order was for two mermaid tails and a seahorse charm. I think they turned out swimmingly...HA!! Get it...mermaid tails...swimmingly...ok you get it. ^_^

It's so hard sometimes to capture the true colors in things when taking a snap shot. The first tail is green with a bit of teal in it....while the second one is a darker green with a bit of blue.

Cute Li'l fella, huh? This is for a little guy and I hope he will love wearing it. My charms look good on ribbons, hemp rope, leather necklaces and chains. I don't supply those because it seems everyone wants something different. I have been thinking of doing some of my hemp rope chokers and doing smaller mermaid tails and seahorses for them. Also...some ribbon ones. Just have to get my pickle jar filled up..LOL!!

Now the person that placed this order has been my mentor when it comes to putting myself out there. She has guided me and helped me and PUSHED me when I needed that little nudge. She has given me a wonderful opportunity to do some work at home and get paid. Imagine...sitting in front of this little box and getting paid. LOVE IT!!! Ohhhh...what's my friends name...it's Julee and she is one of my heart strings. Some of you might know her from Mommy's Memorandum  and if you don't know about this awesome chick and her blog, you really need to check her out. Fantastic reviews, giveaways and just plain old good stuff to know.

I'm working on several different projects and promise to give more details later....but...for now..I'm being pushed out of my chair by the CHAZMAN!! ROFL Seems my computer time is over and his is starting. Guess I have to share, huh? ^_^

Ohhh before I go (Chaz had to run to the bathroom before he started playing) here's one other project that I completed. One of my sealife medallions that I make with shells we find on our beach walkabouts. This one has a beautiful fan shell with a grouping of barnacles. The starfish is clay and the backing is clay. The glass piece is seaglass that a friend sent me.The earrings (seaglass) I made to match. Shhhhh...this is going to Julee as a thank you gift. She so deserves it!!!!!

Until next time........HUGS,
Regi

It's a Mermaid Tale ummm I mean Tail!!

I was so surprised yesterday when I received a phone call from Joseph at the Art gallery. He said that a woman had come in and specifically wanted one of my jewelry pieces. So happy that he couldn't see me because I was dancing all around, waving my arm (couldn't wave armS because I had to still hold the phone..hehe) Then he said "Nooo, she acutally wants three"...seems SHE was standing there listening to him and I began dancing all over again. I asked which piece were we talking about and Joseph said my mermaid tail charms. I told him that I was so excited and to tell the sweet, AWESOME customer thank you and that I would start on them right away. He giggled (Hmmmm...could he see me?) and said to make it six instead of three.

I worked all afternoon and into the night and then some this morning. Isn't my mermaid tail tree purty? Ohh yes it is...if I must say so myself. ^_^  BUT, I don't have to say it myself because YOU think so too...don't you?  I used my fine MICA powders after I sculpted each one and before baking. I love MICA powders...gives anything that magical, mystical appearance. Of course, we all know that mermaids are real...ri iight?? Shhhhhh....never give their location if you are blessed enough to see one..we need to keep their secret.

I attached them to an ocean themed tag. It's printed on card stock paper, tied with a pretty aqua silk ribbon and if they remove the charm carefully then they will have a pretty bookmarker.

On the back of each tag is one of my business cards. I don't want the person that purchases one to forget who the artist is....now do I?  Here are the other 5 tails...

Weather permitting, the Chazman and I are going to walk to the gallery this afternoon and hand deliver these little beauties AND since it's just across the street we are going to go to Stacey's Pharmacy. They have an original old tyme soda fountain and some of the best hand scooped milk shakes around. We might even make it a lunch date...they have wonderful chicken salad too. Yummmmm!!!!

Until next time...........Hugs,
Regi
