TGIF for Southern Coastal Cooking!!!

Now some might say that going to a Redneck Dive would be a bad thing BUT let me reassure you that this is SOOOOOO not the case with this Funky Junky place. When driving down Highway 59 in Foley, right in the middle of Uptown, next to Wal-greens, there it sits. Thought I would start off with the directions just so ya don't miss it. It would be a cryin shame if ya did!!!!!

Fish River Grill #2 is one of the best places to eat in Foley (the original one is located in Fairhope, AL) of course we have a lot of great eating establishments and I'm not taking anything away from any of them. It's just that to me when you walk into a place and are greeted by folks that make ya feel as though you just walked in the old family homestead for a meal, well it just goes without saying, it's the place to be.

The Fish River Grill's Hurricane Hamburger was voted the BEST in Baldwin county and we all know that there is "the best" and then as my Chazman would say, there is "the BESTEST", which this burger surely is. It's just one of the great items found at this funky junky  place. My favorite has to be the all you can eat each and every day...yes I said ALL YOU CAN EAT EVERYDAY fried catfish. Yum yum yummmmm, it's so good it might make ya slap your momma...but I wouldn't do that...she might slap ya back or ya might tell her I said to do it and she would be slapping me. (hehe)  I'm one of the true GRITS (girl raised in the South) so I know good home cooked fried catfish when I eat it. They cook it when ya order it and let's just say...with the pile they bring ya the first time, I doubt that you would be eatin a second helping but of course they will keep it coming if ya can. Not only do you get the catfish but you also get crinkle fries, fried okra, coleslaw and some of the best hushpuppies around. The grill has a special entree that comes with your meal too. It's called Swamp Soup and talk about something belly warming. It's fantastic. It comes in a small cup...HEY...ya don't want to ruin your appetite for that all you can eat fish now do ya?  The Chazman would not eat greens of any kind...no..can't make him...he wouldn't do it....couldn't pay him enough to even try em WELL that was until he ate the Swamp Soup (yes...you guessed, it has greens in it and tons of other good for ya stuff)  Not only do they have the catfish all you can eat they have fried shrimp all you can eat too. So many good items on their menu...just try em...you'll see. They have daily lunch specials too which include the swamp soup and a dessert. Just a great funky junky Redneck dive that will make anyone proud to say....I'm a redneck!!!

Oh yeah.....they have live entertainment too. We are blessed to have some very talented local artist (folks that play guitar and sing) in our area. Diana will even ask if it's to loud....she is one of the sweetest folks and she has some of the BESTEST folks working there too. Always smiling and talking and making sure that everything is just as you want it. Why in the world would someone not want to eat at Fish River Grill? Oh yeah...I'm not the only one that loves the place either....check out Urbanspoon and see what others have to say.

Until next time.....

Hugs,
Regi

Not wordless today....

These are the kind of days that I really, really, really DO NOT LIKE!!!!! Did I mention REALLY? I have been working so hard on my mermaid...had her just like I wanted her.....put her in to bake and "POOF" out came one
burnt mermaid. WHAAAAAAA!!! To top that off I picked her up....before I let her cool off enough apparently...ouch ouch ouch...and dropped her. Now there is one lil burnt very, very broken mermaid in the garbage and one grown woman getting up off the floor and wiping her tears. In all my years of working with clay I have only "gulp" burnt two pieces so I guess I should feel very fortunate about that at least. Now, it's time to start another one and believe me I'm going to be checking every 2 seconds on this one during the curing process.

I did want to mention today that I am having a sale in my Esty shoppe. I hope that you will wander on over and have a looksie.  http://regiooaksartist.etsy.com

Time to jump back over to the clay and let my muse fuss a bit about the mishap and then start all over. Ohhh, the joys of having a very over active imagination. Where is yours taking you today?

Hugs,
Regi

Just sayin...It's a linky thing time!!!

One of my wacky, quirky, adorable, bouncy artist friends is having a Fabulous Friday Linky party. This talented young artist goes by the name of Jingle and she has posted a great, fun tut on making a clay flower Pendant. Now be warned though....she uses ALOT of technical mumbo gumbo but I don't think you will have any problems following along since she has pretty pictures that go with it. Ok ok so it's Jingle talk and not technical at all but that's what makes this blogger so much fun to visit. Just sayin!!!!  Just click on her name above and go have some fun and if you have something you would like to show and share join in on this Fabulous Friday Linky Party.

New Friend Friday....

I have made some wonderful friends over the past year since I started blogging. I never would have thought that so many others were like me......now that could be a compliment or a "head for the hills" statement....LOL....just so ya know. Depends on who ya ask!!!   I've discovered that one of the best ways to meet others is by participating in a blog follow. I discovered a new one that sounds like it will be fun.....my friend from Trendy Treehouse  is having one with one of her fellow friends, The Girl Creative. Ya know us Southern gals....ya can never have to many friends but I'm discovering that just about everyone feels that way too.....no matter where you are from. So, come along....join in the fun...it's a simple one.

New Friend Fridays is a fun blog hop where it's all about making new bloggy friends and offering meaningful comment support to other bloggers. Whether you add your link to the list at The Girl Creative or The Trendy Treehouse it's all just one great big list.

Helping Hands Needed....

It's amazing how I can just sit and stare out my windows.....time just floats on by at an amazingly faster pace than I realize. So much nature to see....to laugh at....to watch with amazement and to want to just jump on and catch. Well....not me...I don't feel that way but Ms. Peaches sure does. LOL  She has found the perfect place to sit and watch out the windows herself and I'm sure her feelings aren't quite the same as the ones I have about all the amazing creatures playing........just out of reach. Thank goodness!!!!

Ms. Peaches and I love to just sit and watch all our wonderful outdoor friends. The squirrels are just as curious....the will come on the porch and sit and stare at US. One even comes up the steps to the back door. I do believe it would come in if I opened the door. We have tons of the big, beautiful Southern Oak trees in the yard which means we have tons of the acorns that fall...the reason our yard is the perfect place. The birds and squirrels share the bird bath but not at the same time of course...no squirrel in it's right mind would ever be caught socializing with a bird!!! We have just about every kind of bird that calls Alabama home here too. This week we have been getting a daily visit from a small Herring. He is getting braver with each visit as he too loves to come and sit under the awning on the porch....that is until one of the squirrels wants to come and visit.

I wish I could have gotten the little squirrel in the photo too....I would have sworn she was shaking her fist at the Herring.

Life is good here but it's hard at the same time. That's the meaning of my title. I have a favor to ask of my friends that I have made here....the ones that have been such amazing supports without even knowing it. Not asking for handouts but I am asking if you would please send friends to my Etsy shoppe. We are having a very difficult time here. I so need to sell some things so that I can contribute......just be able to stock my kitchen would be great. (This hard time is a great way to diet...that's for sure..LOL) To say thank you to those that can...will and do send buying customers to my shop, I will be sending you a thank you gift..so keep in touch.

Until next time............HUGS!!!!
