I think I'm addicted to.....................

Happy Tuesday y'all. My, my but Mother Nature truly is showing us her bipolar anxieties. Yesterday, I wore a tshirt and my flops and thought about turning the a/c on for a bit. Today it's a thermal shirt with thick socks and my flops...hehe!!! (and if I had a fireplace there would be a fire a going)

Now....I  have a confession to make peoples. I think I'm addicted to............painting on glass!!! Go figure and just how did that happen. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I have been painting non stop for two weeks now. That COULD be it, yes? ^_^  I finished the ones that Diane commissioned for Beach Reflections and delivered the last five this morning.

I think this is going to be my design on any simple turtle ones I do from now on. I like the tribal look of these. Each one, like all the others, have sand and tiny shells found on the beach in Gulf Shores, AL.

From doing these, a friend contacted me and wanted me to do one for her but not of a turtle. She wanted one of her pretty yellow and white cat.

She loved it and that made my heart very, very HAPPY!!! Instead of the hemp bows I have been attaching to the ornaments I decided to use some of my pretty yarn. I mean it is of a cat and cat's LOVE yarn!! ^_^

I've also received a request to paint two ornaments with peacocks. I'm really excited to work on them as I haven't painted birds in a very long time. My muse is already whispering. What? What was that? HEHE

I hope that YOU have a wonderful day today and remember to say "Thank you" for at least one of your blessings. My thank you for today is YOU. Thank you for coming to sit under the old Southern Ooaks tree even if it's just to read what's happening in my whimsical world.

It's the beginning of a Thankful week!!

My last post wished y'all a happy middle of the week. This post is wishing everyone a HAPPY beginning of a brand new week. One where we should be giving "Thanks" for all the many blessings we have.

As y'all know I have been working on those hand painted glass Christmas ball ornaments and they seem to be multiplying on me peoples...hehe. That's alright though because I'm really having fun painting and using glitter. Ohhhh, the use of the glitter is an added bonus indeed. ^_^  I took the ones I finished into the gift shop yesterday as I was helping out for the day and three of them went.....just like that. Yeah!!! The three sea turtles so I guess today I'll be a painting sea turtles.

The three that SOLD!! ^_^

Here's the remaining ones that are at the shop. I hope that if you are a local that you will go by Beach Reflections / Blue Mermaid gift shop and if not local or just like to shop online then please visit their online store.

Now...time to paint some sea turtles and enjoy a relaxing Sunday. I hope that YOU have a wonderful Sunday, the beginning of a new week. Remember peoples, that it IS a new week which is like a new chapter in a book where you are the writer. One where you can start over, each and every day......enjoy!!!

Sending you Mermaid Kisses and Starfish Wishes,
Regi

Doodlings becoming paintings...slowly

Happy Middle of the week peoples!!! I hope that everyone is staying safe and warm since Mother Nature seems to be having somewhat of a small tussle with Jack Frost. My thoughts and prayers are with those that have been really hit hard by this early winter weather.

If you have been coming to visit under the old Southern ooaks tree then you know that I'm currently working on some Christmas glass ornaments using some of my doodles as the designs. WOW...it does take some time to work with glass and acrylics as you have to let each layer dry completely before adding the next. Sooo, I'm doing something I don't normally do. I'm working on several at one time. Now...if my muse will just help me NOT get any of the designs mixed up we'll be good.

Here's the ones I have completed so far. Remember that these are doodles and follow along kind of a primitive cave man's drawings.

Each one has sand from Gulf Shores and tiny shells I found there as well. Before anyone thinks to report me to the sand police, I didn't go and dig up sand and bring it home. HeHe  This is sand that I have been collecting for several years from the shells I bring home and clean. You'd be amazed at the amount of sand in a shell, especially the olive shells. Think about it....remember all that sand in your car and trunk when you came to visit on vacation? Exactly!!!

Today I'm working on more ornies and my theme today seems to be sea turtles, sea horses, mermaids and surf boards. I'm really enjoying this project and I do believe after Christmas I'm going to buy several boxes of the glass balls and paint during the year.....have a set (a particular theme) for next year to offer. Maybe even do some for Halloween, Mardi Gras....ohhh the possibilites are endless, yes?

The ones for this year can be found at Beach Reflections LLC and the Blue Mermaid gift shop in Gulf Shores, AL. They have an online store as well. Please check them out.....buy from locals...it's a good thing to do.

I do doodle designs sometimes ^_^

Happy Sunday peoples!! I hope you've had a wonderful weekend filled with adventure and if no adventures then I do hope some much needed rest and relaxation. Both are good....very, very good indeed.

I have been doodling all morning. Yes, I do doodle designs sometimes..hehe!! Try saying "I do doodle designs" fast five times...get that tongue a working. My doodles are hopefully (fingers crossed) going to be painted on glass Christmas balls. Keeping with my beach themed designs I'm excited to get started on some this afternoon.

Now keep in mind these are just doodles (rough drawings) I don't sit and draw neatly unless I'm planning on actually using the pen and pencil for something where it needs to be neat. I just love to doodle!!! I have a few more doodles that I've done over the years that I might just use too. We'll see how it goes.

Hope you'll come back to sit under the old Southern Ooaks tree to see just how these turned out. My muse has so many ideas being sung to me and well...I wish she would just shhhhush for a bit and let me catch up. ^_^

Until next time............Mermaid kisses and starfish wishes (my new saying)

Whooooo knows what day it is?

Mr Owl knows and he even has his dancing pants on to prove it.....hehehe!!! Happy Friday peoples!! I hope today is just the beginning of one HOOT of a weekend for YOU.

Remember this picture from my post on Wednesday? Of course ya do....well.....they have all been repurposed into Christmas ornaments. I actually got 10 more made (on top of the first two I've already shown you) and delivered to Beach Reflections and the Blue Mermaid Gift shop yesterday afternoon.

Santa goes perfect on an oyster shell, yes? He does look kinda like an old salty sea dog and I bet if he could have been something else besides Santa then he would have been a pirate.....a good pirate mind ya. Argg argg arggg!!! Notice that some of the shells have more than one face? Well....that's because some actually had additional shells attached and my muse just had to fill them in too. If interested in purchasing one of my original oyster shell Santas then just follow this link to Beach Reflection's online shop and Diane will gladly handle it for you. I'm only doing a limited amount of these and remember...they are one of a kind!!

Apparently I'm going to be painting some clear glass Christmas balls and sand dollars today and this weekend. The ladies had them all ready to hand off to me and say "Go...do your thing". I'm Happy Happy cause I LOVE doing my thing. ^_^

Until next time.........Hugs,
Regi

What do you see when you look at certain objects??

Happy Wednesday morning peoples!! Ya know what Wednesdays mean.....it's getting closer to those three nights and two days that we all seem to love so much. The weekend!! I'm hoping that ours will include a beach walk cause heaven knows, I NEED more shells....hehehe!!

I finished the tree topper yesterday and Robin loves it. I love making special pieces and then having them loved as much as I loved making it. That's a lot of LOVE peoples!!

Pretty, yes? I really enjoyed making this piece. I had originally planned on using 4 of my oyster shell angels but it would have been to wide at the bottom to be a topper and also probably to heavy. Don't want a leaning tree that could topple over, now do we? I ended up using three angels and instead of the cockle shells I use on my single hanging angel I chose to use scallop shells. Turned sideways they do look so much like a pretty wing. I'm thinking of making a few of the hanging ones with both types of wings and even sculpting a few of the faces instead of using the moon shell. Still in the muse whispering stage at the moment though. ^_^

As I stated yesterday in my post, that I was going to work on the two projects, I actually got both completed. I think Santa turned out rather...........beachy.....hehe!! I love using items I find on my beach walkabouts. Every shell on these were found on walks taken in Gulf Shores. The moss is from a walk in the woods (in Wetumpka) from a long time ago that I dried out myself. So...all are gifts from Mother Nature, that were just laying around, waiting for someone to see what more they could be.

What do YOU see when you look at certain objects? I've always been one to see "hidden" objects in just about anything. A wooden floor, a rug, paint swirls on walls, clouds overhead and even shells. Santa just JUMPED out at me with these two. I must confess that I have more shells that have Santa peeking out of them as well.

Here's some I'm going to be working on today. Notice that some have additional oysters started on them? What do you see? I see some sweet kiddo faces or perhaps an elf. Who knows just WHO will pop out once I start with the clay.

Until next time..........LOOK,
Regi ^_^
