Wednesday work!!

Good Morning peoples!! Hope you're having a good middle of the week. Only 1 day, 12 hours and 19 minutes remaining until Halloween. ^_^

I decided to start working on some of my Christmas gifts. Those that come and sit under the old Southern ooaks tree know that I make most of my gifts for my nieces and nephews and "gulp" great nieces and nephews. Nooo, I'm not old...my niece was just really, really, really young when she had them...Bahahaha!!

I'm starting with my sweet niece Lauren. No worries that she will see this as she never comes to sit under the old ooaks tree. Not that she doesn't love my art...she does. It's just that she is a 17 year old that is doing her own thing these days. Just my luck though...she will THIS time. If so, all I can say is "Merry Christmas...I love you".Ohhh and "Surprise".

She really likes the steampunk look so I thought perhaps a necklace....a monocle necklace....a steampunk monocle necklace. Get the idea? Hehe...I think ya might.  I must admit that I got the idea when I was making the monocle for the witch ooaks I just finished. I had an old pair of reading glasses that finally decided to break on me and you know how much I love repurposing items so I just had to use them for this project. Add that to some watch pieces and POOF...steampunk....here we come!!

Whooooo's this cute lil fella? Isn't he a hoot? Bahaha..I love how the pieces kinda speak to me and this lil owl just kinda jumped out from all the pieces. He will be the focal on the monocle.

I'll be adding other watch pieces and natural gem stones around the edges of the eye piece. Since it's a reading glass lens then she might even be able to use it for reals. Wouldn't that be awesome!! I can't decide if I'm going to put it on a chain, a piece of leather cording or ribbon. What do YOU think?

Until next time.........Hoots (ummm I mean Hugs),

OMGOSH..it's Wednesday already???

Please forgive the time delay (HEY...I only missed a day this time) I have been a bit under the weather after my sweet, darlin son shared his tummy virus with me. Dang it all...I so need to teach that boy that he does NOT have to share everything!!!

Since the Chazman was sick for two days and then I ended up with it late Monday afternoon (and still am not feeling much better) I haven't been doing a whole lot except for doing the horizontal pause.(that's napping for those that don't know..hehe) I did get some sculpting in....in between those pauses that is. Here's two WIP photos for you. The funky, whimsical skellie head is a candelabra....or at least I hope that's what he turns out to be. The white thing on the right is going to be a spell book and the open book is well....a open book with an owl sitting on top. I know...I know...it's laying down at the moment but it won't be when the piece is completed. At least I hope it won't...if it does then that means the owl found the mouse juice..hehe.

I wanted to ask some of you how you go about doing some of your armatures...that is if ya don't mind me asking and if ya do then just don't answer....BAHAHA!!!  I normally use double wire for tall ones like the skellieabra and then twist them together, fold them in half and twist again. After all that twisting I wrap it in florist tape. (I like white but I only had green, so green it was...this time) After all the wrapping I apply a thin layer of regular school glue and let it dry completely. After that then I apply the clay. So far it's always worked and held up really well. I am curious as to how some of you do them though. I know....I know AGAIN....curiosity killed the cat....and to that I say...MEOW!!!! hehe

Until next time...........Hugs AND before I go I want to say that I hope each and every one of you are feeling AWESOME and healthy and do everything to keep those nasty germs away from you and yours. ^_^

Little Feather (Fae) and Alba (Barn Owl)

Nature holds so many wondrous creatures in her many places she calls home. The woodlands are a place that some believe can be enchanted and I whole heartily have to agree. Native Americans know it to be true as they call to their animal spirits. Our woodlands are filled with magnificent Southern oaks, old barns long abandoned and if you listen closely you can hear the soft beating of wings. The wings of Alba, the old barn owl coming in from his daily hunting. Now most barn owls don't live but a few years but Alba will soon be 100.  He is of course enchanted and will live a much longer life still, as long as he never lets anything happen to his little fae that lives not far from his old old barn deep in the old oak trees. One day a very large owl decided this little fae would make a tasty treat and Alba swooped down and saved her. This act of courage to save this tiny fae...Little Feather....made her give her heart away. Her heart belongs to Alba and with it a long life span...so they can be together in the beauty of the woodlands.

Alba is a handsome fellow....don't you think? He sits right at 3 inches. He is one of my full clay sculpts made without the use of any molds. He has black bone bead eyes and is hand painted using acrylic paints. Little Feather is a tiny 2 inches and is also a full clay sculpt designed without the use of any molds and hand painted using acrylic paints.  She looks a bit taller with her hair of feathers. Her wings are made from feathers as well. She has a pretty half brass medallion breastplate adorned with tiny glass beads and bone beads. Her crown is made from the other half of the medallion. Alba and Little Feather are permanently attached to a polished and preserved piece of wood. This piece was a commission piece by a very sweet friend of mine for her new coming great granddaughter. I know that she will be very excited little Khloe to hear that you have made your appearance into the world.

Until next time..........Hugs,

WIP on Owl and Fae

This is my current sculpt I'm working on. Owl and Faerie. Owl is a woodland Barn Owl and faerie is of the feathered fae clan. They are the guardians of the owls. I'm working on some feather wings for her at the moment and getting VERY frustrated. It's hard working with feathers...they just want to "float" away if you let them go. Silly feathers!!!  Ohhh and no worries about the feathers in the pic getting into my clay. They are under the glass I work on when I'm using my clay. It has been a bit overcast here so I have been sculpting in the breakfast nook for better light. I forgot about the feathers and had my hands full when I brought the glass and my work back into my studio area and just plopped it down.

What have YOU been working on today? A sculpt? Some jewelry? Perhaps a painting? Paper craft? This nosey inquiring gal wants to know!!!

Until next time........Hugs, Regi
