For the Love of Christmas

Each year as Christmas day gets near.....we go out into the night....searching for all the wondrous, bright, beautiful lights and decorations that it has to offer. Our own Heritage Park has a tiny Christmas town set up. It has a police station (for all the bad lil elves) a Post office with a real mailbox for the kiddos to mail their letters to Santa. How awesome to have a North Pole direct mailbox. A sweet shop and several other shops that any true Christmas town should have. Several of the parks in towns close by have villages set up as well. So many pretty sights to see. I have to admit though that I simply adore and love the yards that are overdone...ones that truly look like a winter wonderland....ones that you have to drive pass several times just to see everything it has to offer. Even the ones that some would call "Tacky Lights". However, my all time favorite thing to do when we are out on our light tours is to try and peek inside the windows...nooooo, I'm not a peeking Tom...I don't go up to the windows to look in....just from the car at a distance.....to see how the inside is decorated. With that being said...here is a tour of our little decorated cottage on the inside. WELCOME!!
Our decorations are simple and modest but we are celebrating with what we have....a house full of love. This Santa is one of my hand painted signs...you can't see it until you get closer to come in but the wooden banner above his head says HO HO HO. I love this sign because if you flip it over I have a horn of plenty that I did for Thanksgiving. Aren't I a smart gurl?
Once you enter through the door, you are welcomed by our warm little sun room. The wooden shelf hangs all year long and just changes with the Holidays. The paper collage on it is of vintage Christmas Postcards that I downloaded and then printed off and placed inside the original panel.
Here is a close up of the panel. There are so many wonderful sites to obtain these but be careful for some will let you use for your use but don't want you to post them. I have discovered one person that loves to share so that is where I get all my vintage postcards from. I don't use them for anything but making my decorations for my home. You all know that the Chazman loves to decorate. Take a minute to go and see her wonderful vintage blog, it's called Magic Moonlight Free Images. I'm sure you will fall in love with all she has to offer and for free.

I hope each and every one of you have a Blessed and Merry CHRISTmas. I hope that if you celebrate the holidays in another way that it will be merry as well.

Until next time.....Hugs, Regi

  4. Beautiful, I love all the handmade touches and that collage is wonderful AND full of Christmas wonder! I started decorating this week, but between one garland falling (I didn't give the Scott's hooks long enough to set:)) and dusting all the ornaments, the flu hit our house and one after another, we have all dropped. Today, I'm feeling almost human again, so maybe I'll take inspiration from you and get it done!
Hugs and Christmas love to you!
