Cupid Baby #2

Aren't babies just the sweetest little things? Always so entertaining when they are discovering themselves. This little guy has discovered that his big toe will fit perfectly in his mouth. (such a shame that most males continue to put their foots in their mouths from time to time even in adulthood.....HEY...just sayin)

This wee one sits at just barely 2 1/2". He has a wire backbone and is completely sculpted out of Living Doll clay. His eyes and details were done using acrylic paints. His soft baby hair and tiny wings are made from real goose feathers.

Cupid is permanently attached to his little red blankie to feel safe and secure. He can sit inside his Vintage glass egg or sit out in front. He loves to do both. The vintage egg sits right at 4" when closed.

Of course, Cupid can be put to bed in his egg for safe keeping and the top closed at night. Remember: Best to do this when you have cats about.....well one like our Ms. Peaches who thinks all small things are HERS!!

I wish that I had found more of these beautiful vintage eggs. These two though will surely make a lovely addition to any collector's groupings. They will both be in my Etsy shoppe and if someone would like to purchase both, please convo me and I will give you $15 dollars off and ship items together.

Until next time............Hugs, Regi

Baby Cupid #1

Every 75 years....a nursery of Cupid's are placed in the care of "The Believers". The Believers are those humans that have been blessed with the gift of faerie. With this gift, they can see all the mystical and magical creatures that live in our world right along beside us. Yes....there is more than one Cupid. Poor dear wouldn't last a year if there was only one. Are YOU one of the "Believers"? If so, are you up for the challenge of caring for one of the wee ones and keep him safe until he is ready to begin his journey to help us mere mortals to find true love.

This wee Cupid is a tiny 2" long. He has real goose feather hair and wings. He has a wire backbone covered in Living Doll sculpting clay. His detailing in acrylic paints. He is attached to his felt red blankie to make sure he always feels safe and warm.

Cupid fits nice and snug in his Valentine's egg. The egg is a vintage porcelain glass pill box painted with a motif of roses and a grown Cupid. It does seem to be painted on and then heat set...it is not a decal. The two parts of the egg have a rim of gold and a tiny gold clasp to keep it shut. Wee Cupid can be closed up in the egg for safe keeping. A nice thing if you have a cat or two roaming about.

This piece would make a perfect Valentine's keepsake or perhaps a beautiful baby shower gift for the mother that is expecting around the 14th of February.

This is the first Cupid sculpt in a series of two that I am doing. I have another vintage glass egg that I am going to be doing as another Cupid nursery holder. It has a slightly different Cupid painting on it. The wee one in it will be sitting up....perhaps a tiny bit more older than this wee one. Both will be available in my Etsy shoppe. I do hope you will drop in and look around.

Until next time....Hugs, Regi

After the turkey....

It's always so nice to be with family during a holiday and this Thanksgiving was no exception. My youngest sister only lives about 20 minutes from us, so after a morning of cooking my share of the dinner...it was off to her house we went. It was a day filled with sitting around talking.....eating some gooood food....sitting around because we all felt like stuffed turkey's ourselves and talking some more and then once we all felt like we could get up and move, we went outside to play some awesomely fun Corn Hole. Some friends introduced us to this game a few years ago and talk about something that gets you moving, laughing and having an awesome time. I have to admit that I thought our friends were calling it Corn Hoe (ya know how those Northerners talk...kinda funny ^_^) but come to find out after going online to find directions on building us a set that they were trying to say Corn Hole. Now I know why they looked so funny and laughed every time I said the name of the game. It's a simple game....a long board with a hole cut in the top middle and you throw these bags filled with corn. The object is to get your bag into the hole. You get points for your bag landing on the board too. Sounds too simple you say....well....wait until you try it....not so simple!!! Playing this game together as a family was something that we all enjoyed and it will be one of our family Thanksgiving memories and I'm sure something that is going to become a tradition. What better way to work off all that turkey and dressing and sweet potato casserole!!!

Yesterday I finished the second teachers gift for the Chazman. I do hope that both will like wearing their Santa pins. They could also attach a ribbon to the pin and have a Santa ornament. Here is the second pin.

So......How was your Thanksgiving? Any new traditions started? Let us know....we might want to add a few new ones to ours next year. Until next time...........Hugs, Regi

Today is a very GOOD DAY!!!!

I soooo can not believe this. I was sitting here drinking my coffee and reading my email when one popped up from BHG. I figured it was one of those "Thank you for your participation in our latest photo contest...However, you were not selected as our winner this week". Not that this would bother me because I was so honored that two of my ooaks (one of a kind sculpts) photos were actually chosen TO participate in all of the 100's of photos that were submitted. Was I so wrong when I opened that email. Another one of my ooaks has been selected to participate in this week's "Thanksgiving Decorating Photo Contest".
Santa and the Mrs.
I designed this ooaks to show Santa in another Holiday setting. Yes, you guessed...Thanksgiving!!! No one makes better pumpkin pies than his Mrs. I had so much fun with this one.  I'm one of those that "Truly Believe" in Santa and love to show him in other settings. This one had some fun moments that I shared with you here as my muse sat whispering to me. Let me recap some of the process for those that are my "new friends and for those that might have missed or forgotten. Click on the title below each photo to go to the original post.

I hope you enjoyed the look back at how this ooaks came to be. I am so proud of this grouping. It has been to a Holiday exhibit last Christmas at the Harrison Brothers Musuem. It is in the Foley Trim-A-Tree Christmas event this year (and for sale by the way...so if coming through Foley, please stop by the Foley PAA Art gallery..so many wonderful artist..so many awesome gifts to be bought) Now, it's getting a chance for so many to them in the BHG photo contest this week. So, please go and vote. Vote each day until the 28th. Share with YOUR friends on Facebook. The more votes the better Santa's chances are of winning this week's contest. What would I win you ask? The winner of the weekly contest gets $100 and the chance to move to the Grand prize contest, which is $1000 and a chance for the photo to be published in an issue of the Better Homes and Gardens magazine. How AWESOME is that. Now, what are you waiting on...GO VOTE!

Merbaby Keepsake

I love it when I get a request for one of my keepsakes especially when the person knows what they want. I recently had such an order. It's for a baby shower gift.....for a baby girl and the mommie-to-be loves mermaids.

Isn't she a cutie pie!!! Such a happy little smile....maybe one of the nursefish swam by and made her nose tickle or maybe mer babies are like our human babies and when they smile at infancy it means the angels are watching over them. That's what my Great Grandmother would have said...might be one of those old  Southern sayings. My Granddaddy would have said "she has gas"...^_^....but I don't see any tiny air    bubbles.

Acacia (pronouced Ah-kah-sha) is made from Prosculpt clay. She measures at a hair over 2 inches. Her tiny little face is detailed using acrylic paints. Her fins on her long tail have been dusted with fine MICA powders in shades of the ocean. Tiny silver beads and glitter adorn her tail as well. Her hair is dyed lambswool. Her tiny sea crown is made from the same tiny silver beads and glitter. She has wrapped herself around a natural seashell. Even in infancy the merbabies know to keep themselves protected. She has a twisted silver wire hanger with a pink coral stone attached. She hangs on a spiral silver wire.

For my baby keepsakes I make a tiny Birth Annoucement card to go with them. I think it's a nice touch to leave with the keepsake or to be placed in the baby's book. For this one I used a vintage image from an old beach postcard....embellished it with the same tiny silver beads and glitter. On the back I wrote areas for the
parents to complete once the bundle of joy arrives.

If you ever need a special keepsake for a baby shower....anniversary.....wedding....birthday...holiday or "just because" please keep me in mind. You can email me any time and I will get back with you promptly.

As always, thank you for stopping by. Until next time......

Hugs,
Regi
