What a wonderful Christmas we had here at the old homestead. I love all the holidays...the decorating..the baking...the visiting with family but when it's over..well..it's over!!! I keep my decorations up for a bit afterwards because the Chazman loves them so much. He would keep them up all year long....not just Christmas ones but for all the holidays...wouldn't that be an interesting decorating theme? They will stay alittle longer than I want this year seeing how the week before Christmas Uncle Fluenza came to visit me and I still can't seem to kick him out the door. Don't you just hate when some relatives come to visit and they just don't know when to leave? Took me years to get Auntie Flo to stop dropping by...hehe!! Now...what were we talking about...oh yes...the decorations. Hubby will be home onThursday/Friday so guess what's on his "HoneyDo" List for Thursday? Yep...for the first time in our marriage he is going to help put everything away.
He of course might decide that Chaz has a wonderful idea...just leave them up all year long. I don't think so Mister!!!! My Grandmother would come back to haunt me if I did that. She always told me that you should always...always take down the Christmas decorations before the New Year starts. If I didn't then the old year would follow me into the new year. Yes..yes..it might just be one of those old Southern sayings but being the true Grits that I am, I really don't want to take the chance!! (Grits=girl raised in the South)
If you follow my post then you know that I have already made one of my New Year's Resolutions. (I hear that laughing sound again...hehe) It was not to wait until the last minute or when a holiday was upon us to start designing and sculpting for that particular holiday. So today, I am working in my studio on my rabbits, faeries and Easter things. Yes, I know that Valentine's comes first and I do have a few ooaks planned for it but Easter is really being "bounced" all around inside my head. Git it? Bounced...as in what rabbits do..bounce around!! OK....I think I need to get busy.
Thank you for stopping by to visit. Please come again soon and a comment of your visit would be wonderful. I truly do love reading my comments. Until the next time.....
Hugs,
Regi
I am feeling a little torn too. Loving my Christmas, but feeling anxious about getting them down before the New Year's arrives. (I am a GRITS too!)
ReplyDeleteHi Deanna...it's always so nice to meet another GRITS!! Chaz has already started begging me to leave everything up..LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteHello from Utah. Stopping by from SITS! I couldn't agree more with your grandma...definitely get it all down before the new year :) Have a lovely day!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm British - we always say to take decorations down before Epiphany (which happens to be my birthday). Though some things, like fairy lights, I have all year round.
ReplyDeleteWe took all ours down on the inside. The outside is hard too do.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS!
getting ready for Easter, I'm impressed
ReplyDeleteWOW..what a wonderful way to start my morning..being visited by some of my SITStas!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping in and posting a comment. I LOVE my comments.
Melissa..I WILL have everything down and packed away before Friday...just couldn't stand the thought of not doing what my Grandmom told me even if it is YEARS later ;)
Rachel...Happy "EARLY" Birthday sweetie. I LOVE faery lights...have thought about putting some in my studio.
JDaniel..I couldn't get hubby to put lights up outside this year but he promised next year and he said it in front of a group of witnesses..LOL!!
Carol...thank you..I'm a bit impressed too..hehe. I usually wait until the week before and start on an ooaks. Since I have them in a shop now I figured it might not be such a good idea to wait that long.
Happy SITS Tuesday to all of you. Please come again. Hugs, Regi

Hi Monica....thank you for stopping by..hope you will check back often. I know it seems "CRAZY" to be getting ooaks done for Easter already but I'm kinda slowwwww in designing and sculpting so I figured if I want to get any to the shop in time for Easter then I have to start now...LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw in your profile that you love to read. Have books...will trade ;)

Regi
